The print rule

A BOOKIE market settles on the first Chainlink feed print at or after its expiry timestamp. That print is the market's result price. If the result price is strictly above the strike, YES wins; otherwise NO wins.

Why not "the official close"

No number on Robinhood Chain equals the official Nasdaq or NYSE closing price. The Chainlink stock feeds publish a new round when the price moves by about 0.5% or when a heartbeat timer runs out. So the price at 4:00:00 pm is usually not on chain at all. The first print after 4:00 pm can land seconds or many minutes later, and it reflects the market at the moment it was printed.

BOOKIE never calls the result "the close". Copy in the app and on this site always says "the first print after the bell".

How a market finds its print

Chainlink feeds keep their history as numbered rounds. Each round stores a price (answer, 8 decimals) and the time it was published (updatedAt). To settle, anyone may point the market at a round:

  1. The round's updatedAt must be at or after the market's expiry.
  2. The round before it must have updatedAt before the expiry, so it is truly the first one after.
  3. The round must belong to the market's own feed.

Because the feed history is public, anyone can check which round is the first after expiry, and the contract checks the same two timestamps. Nobody types a price in. Chainlink round ids carry a phase number; when a round is the first of a new phase, the contract compares against the last print of the previous phase instead.

 expiry 4:00:00 pm
        |
round N: updatedAt >= expiry ? -- no --> too early, try a later round
        | yes
round N-1: updatedAt < expiry ? -- no --> not the first, try an earlier round
        | yes
settle with the answer of round N

Weekends and quiet feeds

Stock feeds go quiet when the stock is not trading. Over a weekend a feed can publish nothing for about two days, and the longest gap seen so far was 81 hours over Labor Day 2026. A market whose expiry falls in a quiet stretch waits until the feed prints again, and that next print settles it. If you bet on a Friday market late on Friday, the result may be the first print of the following week. The app shows each market's feed and how long ago it last printed, so you can see a quiet feed before you bet.

If a feed prints nothing at all at or after expiry for 7 days, anyone may settle the market on the feed's latest print, which is then from before expiry. The settlement event marks that market as settled stale.

What this trusts

Settlement trusts the Chainlink feed: if the feed prints a wrong price, the market settles on that wrong price. BOOKIE adds no override and no admin result. Pausing stops new bets and new markets; selling, settlement, claims and the house stay open.
